Four drivers out of the MDM Motorsports stable will be chasing the prized guitar trophy when the ARCA Racing Series takes on the Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tennessee this Saturday night for the Music City 200.

Sheldon Creed, Harrison Burton, Chase Purdy and Zane Smith are coming off a test session last week at the track where they all left smiling and feeling confident about their chances at a checkered flag.

Creed a 20-year-old Alpine, California racer who competed in more than 29 races with eight different teams last year and is already known as one of the most diversified drivers in the sport, is focusing on the ARCA Racing Series this year in the United Rentals, A.M Ortega No. 28 Toyota.

He is eyeing the guitar while keeping the big picture in mind. “We want to get the win on Saturday for sure,” Creed said. “But a top five and a clean race car would be a good day for us. I just want to keep racing smart and keep us in the hunt for the championship.”

Crew Chief Jeff Stankiewicz expressed optimism. “Our test here went well. Sheldon has been here before and has run well here so that always helps. This track is old and worn out so tire management will be key to having a good day on Saturday.”

Burton, 17, lives in Huntersville, North Carolina. The second-generation driver will pilot the Dex Imaging, Safelite Auto Glass Toyota No. 12. His ARCA season starts this weekend at Nashville, and he’s excited to do battle on the famed short-track. “I’m definitely pumped to start my ARCA season at Nashville. It’s a fun track with a lot of history. Our mindset is to go win but to do that we will have to beat our teammates and a strong field of cars. I’m ready to go get after it with them and do my best to get that victory on Saturday night.”

Shane Huffman serves as Burton’s Crew Chief, and he is clear about the goal for Saturday night. “We are here to compete for wins wherever we go. We came up a little short at the last one, but I expect nothing less than another strong showing from our team in Music City this weekend.”

18-year-old Meridian, Mississippi racer Chase Purdy will be behind the wheel of the Bama Buggies, Polaris Toyota No. 8 this weekend. Of this weekend, he said with a smile, “I’m really looking forward to racing at Nashville. We had great speed at the test, and all the guys were happy with where we were at the end of that day. I know I still have some things to work on to keep us in position to fight for that guitar at the end of the race, but I have faith in myself and our team to make it happen on Saturday.”

Purdy’s Crew Chief, Culley Baraclough, will be calling his first-ever Nashville race on the pit box Saturday night. “I’ve never been to Fairgrounds Speedway other than the test we had, so we’re definitely going to rely on our teammates to start with. Chase did well at the test, so hopefully, we will just have a consistent day of improvement throughout the race and have a shot at the end.”

Smith will team with veteran Crew Chief Marty Lindley to drive the La Paz Margarita Mix, Icon Vehicle Dynamics No. 41 Toyota this weekend. The 19-year-old Huntington Beach, California native is ready to return to action. “It’s been a long break, so I’m more than ready to get back in the car at Nashville. Strategy always plays huge at these worn out tracks, so staying on top of that will be key. We have one goal for Saturday night, and that is to leave with the Guitar. We want the win.”

Lindley smiled at Smith’s determination. “We showed a lot of speed at the test here, especially on the long run. Zane’s right. The track is worn out, so tires are very important here. Putting on your last set of stickers at the right time usually determines the race winner. Hopefully, that will be us on Saturday night.”
